PS Plus Premium Classics Catalog explained: PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 games on PS5, rewind and quick saves, which titles have trophies and why PS3 is streaming-only
2026-11-04 · PS Plus
Replaying Syphon Filter or Sly Cooper on a PS5 with rewind and save-anywhere is the quiet reason many people pay for the top PS Plus tier. The Classics Catalog has existed since 2022, but there's still confusion about what downloads, what streams, which games have trophies, and whether the tier is called Premium or Deluxe. Let's clear it up.
Which tier you need
Classics come only with the top tier. In the US and UK it's PS Plus Premium, which the UK PlayStation site lists as including the Classics Catalog, Game Trials, Cloud Streaming and the Sony Pictures catalog on top of everything in Extra and Essential. In some countries without cloud streaming the same tier is sold as Deluxe, with the Classics Catalog and trials but no streaming.
That distinction matters for one thing: PS3 games are available only through cloud streaming. On Premium in the US you can stream them. On Deluxe there's no streaming, so there are no PS3 games at all. For a full tier comparison see our Essential, Extra and Premium guide.
What's in it, by generation

- PS1. Downloadable, running through Sony's emulator with up-rendering, filters, rewind and quick saves. Reviewers point to Ape Escape, Syphon Filter, Toy Story 2 and Oddworld as examples.
- PSP. Same feature set as PS1, with the image scaled up for a modern display.
- PS2. Long limited to older "PS2 on PS4" ports, but in June 2024 Sony launched a new emulator. Sly Cooper, Tomb Raider Legend and Star Wars: The Clone Wars arrived with rewind, quick saves, up-rendering and full trophy lists.
- PS3. Streaming only. As of October 2026, TheSixthAxis reports there's still no way to download PS3 titles, and PS3 streaming doesn't work on the PlayStation Portal.
The catalog grows slowly, roughly one or two titles a month. Anything you've downloaded keeps working as long as your subscription is active.
Where to find it on the console
1. Open the PS Plus section on the home screen or the PS Plus app inside the PlayStation Store.
2. Scroll to Classics Catalog: the games are shelved by generation.
3. Pick a game and select Download. PS1 and PSP games are a few hundred megabytes; PS2 titles run to a gigabyte or more.
4. Some classics are also sold separately. If the game page shows a price, you can buy it without a subscription and keep it.

Rewind, quick saves and filters

PS1, PSP and the newer PS2 titles get an emulator menu you can open during play:
- Rewind. Missed a jump? Scrub back a few seconds like a video.
- Quick save. Save anywhere, even where the original game didn't let you. Several slots are available, and Sony has expanded the count over time.
- Up-rendering. The game is drawn at a modern resolution instead of its original 240-line output.
- Video filters. A retro CRT-style look or a clean modern one, plus a choice of aspect ratio: original 4:3 or stretched to fill the screen.
- Trophies. Not guaranteed. Sony's own studios add them; some third-party releases, which TheSixthAxis says include Namco and Capcom titles, ship without them. Trophies can be patched in later.
One tip from TheGamer's early hands-on: don't flip filters and resolution back and forth rapidly. At launch that could crash the game.
Before you subscribe just for the classics
- Your account's region decides the lineup. The catalog differs by country, so check the PS Plus page for your account's region, not someone else's list.
- Want PS3? Make sure you're on Premium in a streaming country. The US qualifies; Deluxe regions don't.
- Old purchases. If you once bought digital PS3 or PSP classics, Sony said you'd be able to redownload them from your library.
- Saves. Emulator quick saves and regular in-game saves are separate things; the regular saves go to PS Plus cloud storage like any other game.
